13 Weeks

Our first date.

Cameron & I were rather unconventional from the beginning. I liked his best friend Mitch. I had a class with Mitch and would talk to him all class. I got to know him really well. He told me about his life and about the lives of his friends, including his best friend, Cameron.

I knew of Cameron, after all he was friends and with my best friend and was even in her ward.

One day, I asked Mitch about Cameron, and he asked me if Cam was cute.
That same night cameron texted me.

We texted and texted and texted (is that even the proper way to say that? who knows.)

But of course, since we only knew one another through text messages and stories courtesy of Mitchell, we never talked at school. We'd look at one another in the hall and look away.
Awkward, is the only way to describe it.

Then he asked me on a date. A double date with Mitch.
He picked me up and met my parents.
He opened my door and smelled divine.
We rode in his red jeep and talked like we were the best of friends.
We went mini golfing and had ice cream.
I was nervous and he was so handsome.

I think it's fair to say that I had the hots for Cameron after he started texting me...but I really fell for him that night. Cameron was a perfect gentle man and made me feel so very special.
He walked me to my door and it snowed.
He gave me the best hug and left me thinking about him for the rest of the night until he finally
texted me again.

Perhaps it's not the most romantic of stories, but I love it. I love that we were set up and had so much in common from day one. He easily became my best friend and will forever be. Now here we are, just weeks until we can be together again and make new memories and I
could not be happier.

My Bedroom

I spent the entire day Saturday painting my bedroom.
My bedroom. The one I've grown up in.
The one Patrick & I used to hold Brittney Spears dance concerts for my parents in.
The one Duffy used to sleep in back in his early years.
The one I did countless art projects & crafts in.
The one with the walls I destroyed with pictures of my friends & ticket stubs.
The one with the awful green wallpaper & red carpet.
The one with the door I slammed in my angry teenager years.
The one I learned to play my clarinet in.
My room. The room that I've spent the last 14 of my years growing up in.
It's an odd feeling. I'm so excited for my parents, for all that they've accomplished in their careers to provide them with the means to make this move. I'm excited to live in this new home for a few months before I venture off with my RM in the world of cheap apartments...I'm excited.
Yet, at the same time...I'm sad. My room is scattered between boxes to keep, garbage, & DI.
The walls are nude and still smell like paint.
It's just weird. Weird weird weird.
It's not really my room anymore, and I will never have a room that chaotic & fun again. This new version is the room to sell the house. One of four bedrooms that are meant to entice a buyer. A buyer that will never know how much this room means to me & what an
amazing time I've had in this home.
So I'm a little nostalgic, no big deal.

P.S. Please don't mind my hair for the next few days,
lots of paint dripped in it & has yet to come out.

Our First Date

Today is the two year anniversary of our first date. So, in honor...I thought I'd share the story of our first date and a little about how we came to be. It's going to be awkward and long.
You have been warned.

Cam and I never really "met" until our first date. But that's a whole other story for another day.

Cameron picked me up for our date and opened my door. We rode in his jeep to the blue light church, where we met up with mitch and megan to follow them to (stupid) hollywood connections. I laughed when cam told us where we were going, but he blamed mitch and apologized. We talked nervously on the way. In his jeep, I could smell his cologne and was so nervous. We got to HC and headed inside. There I met megan and chatted with mitch. We decided to play mini golf. I was so nervous. Cam was an awful mini golfer (and still is) but he made for some good laughs. Miraculously, on the last shot, he made a hole and one...and still will not let me forget it. We decided to ride some of the kiddie rides and ended up squished together on "the dragon coaster." again...I was so nervous. We made fun of the punk kids and the strange workers, including a man that shouted "yee haw" each time he started the ride. We devolped inside jokes. After enough playing we decided to grab some ice cream. In line, cameron turned to me and asked "what flavor is Lemon-sort of?" I laughed...you mean lemon sorbet? (I still won't let him live that one down) We laughed and cam spilled ice cream on his blue striped sweater, which made us laugh more. After we had had enough HC we headed to megan's house for a movie...and here's where it gets awkward. There were two couches in her basement and a love sac bean bag. Megan wanted to show me her room and when I got back to the basement cam was sitting on a couch, but mitch decided to be funny and sit next to cam to cuddle. I stood there awkwardly then sat on the love sac. Megan sat on the other couch and called mitch over. So there we were...mitch & megan on a couch. Cameron on a couch. and me on the love sac. haha and we stayed that way for half the movie...so awkward. Cameron eventually mustered up the courage to sit next to me in the love sac and ease the awkwardness...but it was bad. Haha. Around 11:30 or so cam and I left and he took me home. It was snowing and so perfect. He walked me to my doorstep and hugged me like a perfect gentle man. and then he left.

Our first date was so awkward and yet, when we look back on it we can't help but laugh. We were awkward and nervous but some how we both over came that awkwardness and fell in love. Perhaps it wasn't the most romantic date or story, but it is ours and it was just perfect. I love that boy.

Auld Lang Syne

2011 has been one of the greatest years of my life. Full of change and new experiences, it was truly memorable. I am so blessed to be where I'm at in life surrounded by those that love me. I am so grateful for the life I have. 2012, however, is the year I have been waiting for. I can not wait to meet my cameron and to begin our life together. Here's to an amazing 2011 and an amazing year to come!!!
